For the 5th Sunday in Pentecost, Pastor Matthew uses the story of Rebekah and Isaac found in the book of Genesis. This is a lovely story about the generations that follow Abraham and Sarah. The Song of Solomon reading, a celebration of love, and being in love and feeling love in our bodies which are gifts of God to us.

For the epistle reading, our pastor preaches against the notion that the flesh is inherently evil, that it isn’t! It is the incarnated gift of God to us by which we experience the love of God in everything around us. And the Gospel of Matthew, discipleship is indeed a yoke. There is work to be done and discipline to endure but the yolk of discipleship is life and peace whereas the yoke of sin is a noose.
